Gold Spike in Las Vegas, NV: AVOID!!!

They are very underhanded and dishonest about door fees and their security is quick to manhandle undeserving people just to get them out of the way and move business along more quickly. Security acts entitled and above the law when it comes to grabbing, shoving, talking down to, and disrespecting people. I'm sure there are a few good ones but there are at least several bad ones ruining it for everyone. They should consider themselves fortunate to be receiving nothing more than poor reviews from me at this point in time, particularly considering some of the pictures my husband took of a couple of the incidents we witnessed between their employees (hostess and door men and women) and guests. We even caught one of their door men trying to slyly let a group of his guy friends not only cut the entire 30 minute+ line but get in for free when they were charging other men $20 each on the door. This same door man, who had previously grabbed one woman somewhat violently to push her out of the way of the entry, shouted at and threatened to call the police on another woman when she tapped his shoulder just to get his attention and ask a question. This was Halloween night 2018 and they had been advertising their Halloween party everywhere - via email, Facebook, various other websites and flyers - but nowhere was there mention of any sort of entry fee. After waiting in line over 30 minutes to get in, men and women were separated into two lines where they couldn't even see each other to know what was going on. Women were quite literally pushed along and rushed into the building, not allowed to get to their men til they were inside. Men were then told they could either pay or leave but could not get in touch with the women they'd arrived with who had already been funneled inside. The door men would not locate the women for their men either so men were left with no way of contacting the women they'd arrived with to tell them what was going on (aside from waiting outside for these women to hopefully check their phones that had hopefully not run out of battery by that point in the night) and no option other than to pay a $20 entry fee to rejoin them inside. They were given no time to discuss or think about it and told they would have to wait in the entire line again if they needed a minute to assess the situation or discuss with their partner. Women were told they would have to wait in the entire line again if they exited so going out just to see if their man was still stuck outside was not an easy option. Wtf What about men whose women were holding all of the cash for the night?!! First off, there was no shortage of party options that were more fun and cheaper than here or even free to get in (ie: the Nerd, The Griffin, Fremont Street itself, maybe Artisan,..) but this was also an extremely underhanded way of getting money out of customers. Worst of all, however, was the hostess letting the men in. She had a truly disgusting personality and was cruel to the confused men who showed up in front of her only to be surprised by a previously unannounced $20 door fee, which would've been perfectly fine with the majority of patrons, I'm sure, if just posted or mentioned ANYWHERE in advance and not handled in this manner.

I've been to this establishment at least twenty times with my husband, alone, and with friends visiting from out of town but after such an appalling experience we will absolutely not ever be back. Fortunately for us, we didnt waste our Halloween here this year and we instead had an absolutely incredible time drinking, dancing, gaming, bowling, and so much more at The Nerd. We got way more value for our money too because, rather than spending that $20 on Gold Spike's surprise door fee, we got to add it to our drink budget at The Nerd, where we ended up partying til maybe 4am?! All this after dancing for free and just buying a couple of drinks at the completely packed, awesome bar called The Griffin.

Tl;dr: Spare yourself the frustration and the bs and don't fund the employment of the sorts of people they hire to work the doors here. Plenty of better options in town that you don't have to look far for.

Spirit Airlines Future Travel Vouchers (FTV) are a SCAM!!!

Spirit Airlines Travel Vouchers are a scam

Our flight from Minneapolis to Las Vegas to severely delayed by over half a day, so we were offered flight vouchers for the value of $100 each with Spirit Airlines.

At first, we accepted, this sounded great! However, it's IMPOSSIBLE to use them.

Spirit Airlines travel vouchers are NOT compensation. They are like those phone scams where you call them for $4.95 per minute to get a free wine glass. You DO NOT gain ANYTHING from this. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some gotchas:
1. They expire within 1 month.

2. You cannot transfer them. You cannot book under another name. YOU and YOU alone MUST use them.

3. The flight vouchers only remove the flight portion of the ticket

4. You cannot combine them with miles. You MUST pay for an expensive ticket to use them.

5. The flight portion of the ticket is actually really low. On a cheap flight, it can be negative, which means you cannot use your flight voucher at all. Other times, it can be $5 or so. I called customer service, they suggested picking a $300 flight rather than a $40 flight so I can use my voucher. Lol. What!?

6. You have to pay extra fees

7. The vouchers didn't arrive by email, but we did get an email saying we were entitled to our vouchers. We had to call their number to speak to 3 people to have them issued. The guy on the phone had a horrible accent and it took us 40minutes from phone up to phone down to get them.

8. Their customer service phone number is IMPOSSIBLE to navigate. You ONLY way to speak to somebody is by using options: 5-4-1. This took us 2 hours to test each option. It's simply TERRIBLE.

I will be lodging a BBB complaint over this, the customer service availability and interaction was dreadful. This is the worst flight experience I have ever had.

DO NOT RENT A CAR WITH TURO!! - Fees, Charges and more

We rented a car in Hawaii and the car itself had pre-existing damages. We took a video of the car before our trip so that all evidence was recorded and we could drive with piece of mind. We did the same when dropped off the car.

NOTE: The owner did not want to meet us. They left the key under the drivers mat and told us to put it there when we were done.

Name and shamehttps://turo.com/rentals/cars/hi/kailua-kona/toyota-corolla/364057

Once we dropped off the car, the owner filled a dispute for damages totalling $800+. We had video evidence to support this was pre-existing.

PROBLEM 1

Turo demanded we send them all evidence within 24 hours. If we wait any longer, they will take the money from our card. So if you're travelling... better find Wi-Fi FAST!! because the phone app wont work for this. Visiting an ill family member? Better ditch them to find Wi-Fi... Apparently, Turo think 24 hours is fine because quote: "You either have the evidence or you don't"

PROBLEM 2
Turo offer only EMAIL support. You CANNOT call them. You try calling Turo, you will be passed around a bunch of menu options and none of them lead to a physical person. They take OVER 24 hours to reply to you.... So if you have problems, tough luck, because you better send all that evidence over within 24 hours because you will not be able to talk to Turo in that time.

PROBLEM 3
We followed the guide we received via email and submitted some picture evidence. Get this.... The website DOES NOT SUPPORT VIDEO EVIDENCE. I took the initiate and renamed the video to .txt and left a description. I also uploaded the video to YouTube and put in the link in. They debited my credit card for $800 and stated that I did not provide any evidence. What!?

PROBLEM 4
After emailing back and forth, a day wait in between each communication because they are as slow as hell replying when it really matters, I opened a case with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). This lit a fire under them because I soon received some preferential treatment. Money was finally refunded, despite it being taken from my account illegally.

PROBLEM 5

Turo users can charge up to $250 for a cleaning fee. So if you're renting a nice shiny white car, you're f****ed. Better clean that baby nice and clean and take photos, or you'll be $250 up the spout.

PROBLEM 6
The owner of our car was able to charge if the gas level was not full when dropped off. Turo allows car owners to do this. We picked the car up an d the gas was just below full. After driving around, we totalled that 80-100 miles were missing from full. In the paperwork for our agreement, it states the car was full when collected. To avoid the fee, we filled the car up, but we knew we were being had. I submitted the evidence to Turo and they ignored the question 4 times. FInally, they addressed it and stated quote: "You took that from a different angle, the car is full".

Do yourself a favor, spend a little extra and rent from somebody like Hertz and not these bunch of pirates. Trust me, you'll be happy you did!!

At no point did Turo apologize, not once. At no point did they penalize or ban this car owner. We were finally refunded by Turo because TURO made this mistake. The car owner still kept the $800 despite trying to charge us for pre-existing damage. This car owner is free to carry on and rip people off. I assume that Turo gets a nice cut from rentals because they are clearly doing nothing about it. This has been the most terrible car rental experience I have ever had.
